So what is LGBT Pride Month?

To know about pride month first of all you need to understand the term “LGBT” which stands for Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgenders.

In the United States every year in the summer time LGBT community stands together to celebrate LGBT Pride month in the month of June.

What is Pride Month?

LGBT Pride Month is celebrated every year in the Month of June in respect to the protests and the parades done by the LGBT community in the past during 1969 in New York City.

This was also named as the Stonewall Riots. Thus every June there is a pride parade and the entire month is celebrated as the Pride Month.

A rainbow colored flag is used during the parades which is now the official symbol of LGBT community.

According to Gilbert Baker, the rainbow flag has a meaning.
┬áred – life, orange – healing, yellow for sunlight, green for nature, blue is harmony, and violet is for the spirit.

Baker died at the age of 67 on 31st March 2017 but the flag is still used as an iconic symbol for LGBT community.

Just like every year this year, the month of June will also be celebrated as the LGBT Pride Month.
